First Lady Louise โLizaโ Araneta-Marcos, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, and Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque graced the opening ceremony of Manila FAME: Katha Awards 2024 ceremony October 17.
Held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, the ceremony celebrated the Philippines' mastery of craftsmanship and innovation. With a theme "Reimagination," the event showcases the countryโs finest home, fashion, and lifestyle products.
Since its inception in 1983, the Katha Awards has been instrumental in promoting local talent and supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The term โKatha,โ which means โto create," embodies the spirit of the awards, celebrating authenticity and the fusion of traditional Filipino craftsmanship with modern, sustainable design.

โข Best in Product Design for Fashion โ Pisa Handbag by Bon Ace;
โข Best in Product Design for Holiday Dรฉcor and Gifts โ Nutcracker Ornaments by P&B Valises Et Compagnie;
โข Eco-Design Award โ Paea by Buttons in Things Arts & Crafts.
Special citation for Best Booth Design went to P&B Valises Et Compagnie, while the award for Best Sustainable Design for Booths was given to Zarate.
In addition, the event launched the Taglay Pinoy Program, which aims to boost the competitiveness and digital transformation of Katha beneficiaries. The program offers an online platform for promoting their products and services to a global market, expanding their reach and opportunities.
The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including international buyers, exhibitors, visitors, diplomatic corps members, government officials, and key stakeholders, highlighting the global interest in the Philippines' design and craftsmanship. Among the distinguished guests were Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, Congresswoman Lani Mercado-Revilla, PhilExport President Sergio Ortiz Luis, CITEM Executive Director Leah Ocampo, Former Tourism Secretary Dr. Mina Gabor, and Presidential sister and cultural impresario Irene Marcos-Araneta, among others.
The Manila FAME Trade Show 2024 aims to honor innovation and craftsmanship, reinforcing the Philippines' reputation as a creative powerhouse.
